First, I would like to say, “Don’t let any doctor tell or convince you that shoulder surgery is an uncomplicated process resulting in little to no pain with quick recovery time. None of this is true!
My first right-shoulder surgery was an external Arthroscopic repair which occurred on June 30, 2021. But my second surgery was a Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty Surgery (the only option) occurred on May 9, 2022. However, both surgeries were painful with the second being the most severe. Further, my first Physical Therapy session begin at Prairie Rehab Center on May 17th, and end in December 2022, sometime before Christmas. I knew I would be dealing with pain for an exceptionally long time which is still a reality.
However, because of my lifestyle as a full-time motorhome dweller and need to be far away from Sioux Falls prior to the arrival of winter, my therapist approved my release from Rehabilitation sessions on September 27, 2022, with pages of home rehabilitation exercises to perform daily to help strengthen my joints so I could accomplish tasks I needed to preform daily around my motorhome.
I was surprised to discover two of my physical therapists had scheduled to visit my motorhome to determine if they could suggest and improvise new techniques to prevent reinjury to my shoulder and wrist. But enable me to accomplish most my daily tasks. This was certainly an interesting visit and workout session. However, there was no effortless way to carry refilled propane tanks or lift the hood of my truck overhead to check fluid levels and make refills. Other than to take my motorhome to a service center.
As a results, I learned new skills and was able to take both the motorhome and jeep to service centers for the following: Oil changes, new filters for both vehicles (truck and jeep) and motorhome generator. As well as tire pressure checks/new tire replacements including battery checks or replacements for motorhome truck, house, and jeep batteries. Also, the rear stabilizing bar on the jeep which is my tow vehicle had to be done by my vehicle service center.
Ensuring my vehicles are well serviced and ready to make my annual exodus from Sioux Falls prior to the arrival of Winter is a regular goal for me. My plan is to leave Sioux Falls on October 4th.
